It's Monday again :) I really have come to love Mondays. It's been a long weekend and honestly, I am excited to get on with the rest of the week!!! I'm only 2 1/2 weeks away from vacation and I'm so ready to just relax and pretend the real world doesn't exist!
I had a tough time getting in front of the computer this past week With two Baseball games, three runs, and a crazy week at work, something had to give and it was apparently my midweek post! My apologies :) The good news is that I worked hard to reach the goals I set for myself and enjoyed the very long week. For those that don't remember last week's goals, here is your recap:
GOAL 1: TRY ONE NEW THING EVERY DAY: I did try lots of new things this week. One of the greatest things I tried this week was "the stick"
I have been using it in addition to my foam roller to help with my muscle soreness. As an added benefit, it can be used on your neck and is a pretty good substitute when nobody wants to give you a neck/back rub!
I tried something else new too... It may surprise a lot of you who only know me through this blog or via twitter but I am very shy around new people. Once I know you I become a true extrovert, talking laughing and engaging in all topics of conversation but I rarely take the first step in real life. I;m not really sure why it happens but I become completely awkward around new people. Anyway, this week I made new friends. I made an honest effort to get to know the other parents on Colin's baseball team and vreated some terrific starts to friendships. This may not sound like a very big deal but to me it is :)
All in all I was pleased with my efforts and I think I will try new things more often.
GOAL 2: TAKE THE GUESS WORK OUT OF MY MORNINGS: Okay I said I would do it and I did! I rocked this goal! I also hated every minute of it. What can I say??? Some people just enjoy chaos!
I picked out my clothes every night and had everything ready to go in the morning. I'm glad I tried this method out and I know I saved a ton of time in the morning so this week I am going to work hard to find a way to not feel caged in and still reap the benefits. Any ideas???
GOAL 3: I AM GOING TO LIVE IN THE MOMENT AND TAKE THE TIME TO ENJOY THEM ALL: Okay folks, finally a brag moment for me!!! I didn't get worked up or overstressed about anything this week! I was calm cool and collected about all the to-do's on my list and I was able to prioritize all of the work I had to do while still balancing all the wonderful fun things in my life. Without slacking off at work, or neglecting my Mommy duties and while completing all of my runs, I got it all done with a giant smile on my face. I might have a few laugh lines more this week than I did last but I certainly didn't add any worry lines to my forehead ! I was able to enjoy all of my moments this week and I am certainly glad I figured that goal out!!!
Now on to this week... I've celebrated last week so I suppose it's time to set my goals for the coming week.
GOAL 1: Make it to the new gym twice this week! I will start with a confession. I am intimidated by the new gym for some inexplicable reason. Really intimidated.
Regardless of my fear, I am done making excuses. I will go there twice this week!! I will take the classes I have been so excited for and I won't make an excuse not to!!!
GOAL 2: I will run twice in one day once this week!! Strange right? I have a very good reason for this goal. Along with a zillion other things I had on my plate this week, I decided to run a 200 mile relay across the state of New Jersey. If you've never heard of the Reach The Beach races, you should check them out! I am super excited about the race but it means I am going to have to condition my body to run more than once a day. I'm not accustomed to that right now and I know its going to be a major adjustment. Wish me luck as I attempt to run twice a day once a week for the next few weeks. I am thinking my usual day to do this will be Tuesday since that is usually a short run day and it is also my day off from work
Goal 3: Maintain my evening routine for success in the morning and figure out a way to make it feel more natural. You read it right. I know I said I hated it but I also said that it made the day go smoothly. I didn't once have to run around for the coordinating jewelry or wonder where my shoes went off to. I ate breakfast and packed lunch every day except the one I had planned on eating out. I was early for work every day. These are all the reasons I am going to find a way to make this habit work for me!
QUESTIONS:: Have you ever avoided an activity you wanted to try because you were intimidated? How did you move forward?

Great job on the goals Sarah! You make me life saying you love the chaos!!! I am complete opposite lol! Good luck this week!

Better under heaps of pressure and watching me get ready in the morning is quite a bit like a NASCAR driver on Pit Road!
I think the running 2x a day goal is a rockstar way to get ready for RtB
ReplyDeleteWhat and excellent way to be live in the moment I often find myself getting consumed with the day to day chores, it is a good reminder to just be. Thanks!
