| The view from our back porch for two weeks |
1: Complete mileage for the week: My goal was to bring my mileage up over the previous week's totals. Unfortunately, this didn't happen. I decided not to beat myself up too much over this. I wasn't feeling well a couple of days last week and there is no use setting out for a run when you feel gross at the start. I ran as much as I could and relaxed the time I didn't feel up to it. I still ran 15 miles which is by no means a disgraceful week!!!
2: Labor Day Virtual 10-miler: It's a really good thing I have until tomorrow to send Laura my miles since I was feeling so fatigued and achy on Sunday that I wasn't able to run. I have a fantastic short run in my new shoes on Saturday night but I decided to listen to my body and give it a break. Sometimes you have to trust your instincts.

3. Pledge and Donate as much mileage as possible to the #MemorialRun on twitter: I was so excited to see a bunch of you jump on this band wagon over the past week! Kym worked so hard to support a cause so close to her heart and i am so proud of her and all that everyone accomplished. between Rob and myself we donated a lofty # of miles and though I would have liked to have more, I was reminded that every single mile counted and was equally important!!
Okay so a pretty decent week overall. Now that I'm back home, I need to get back into a routine that works for training, and family life as well as my career. With school starting, that brings on a whole other set of responsibilities I have on my plate. So here are this week's goals:
1. Pack my lunches for work! Okay Okay.... I know that's not new!!! I had gotten so good at this before vacation but I went right back to old habits today and didn't eat any breakfast and forgot to pack my lunch. That's just not ok so I am going to make sure I focus on this goal and make it happen. In order to make this more fun I even bought some adorable containers to bring lunch in.
2. Be a good homework buddy!! With Danger starting 3rd grade tomorrow, we have been warned that he will have boatloads of homework this year. His teacher last year assigned little to no homework and based on what I have heard about this year's teacher he has a far different policy. My goal this week is to be accessible to Danger on the days I am home after school so I can help him get used to the workload.
3. Kick Ass at my 5k on Saturday!!! I am not a sprinter... I know you are all shocked! I mean, look at my shoes... some of the world's fastest runners wear Newton Running Shoes, but I am not one of them. I'm just a giant nerd who loves the idea that my shoes could be a science experiment while helping me stay injury free and pushing me to run faster. Saturday I am hoping to run the race in 30 minutes or less. For some of you that's a really long time. For others its a lofty goal. For me, its a challenge to remain consistent and breathe properly. It won't be a new PR for me, but I still have a lot of work to do in order to be back in the shape I was in when I ran my PR of 26 minutes flat on Thanksgiving 3 years ago. I'll get there but for now, I want to finish at 30:00 or less. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
There they are. What do you think??? What are your goals this week?
