1. Make it to the gym twice this week: I did in fact make it to the gym three times this week!!! I did two strength training workouts plus I attended my first yoga class at the new gym. I had a great time and plan to go back this Tuesday for more.
2. I will run twice in one day this week: I already ranted and whined about my sciatica and sore back yesterday so I will spare your eyes the re-read. The bottom line is that although I had a two-a-day planned for this past week, the doctor and I, after a short discussion and a long stretching and adjustment session, came to the conclusion that I needed a few solid stretching only days and I feel better for having taken them. I think I will make this a goal during vacation. It will be easier having 15 full days off to implement this and then set a routine that will transition nicely after vacation as well.
3. Maintain my evening routine for success in the morning and figure out a way to make it feel more natural: I did a great job with this for the majority of the week but towards the weekend I slacked off on prepping the night before. It wasn't perfect, b ut it is certainly getting better week after week! Consistency is really the key here.
Overall, given the limitations of my injured back right now, I was okay with my performance. I don't feel like I settled for less, I feel like I modified my goals to meet my limitations and help myself succeed. And now for this week's goals...
1: Eat more balanced meals and stay away from fatty, greasy comfort foods and lay off the alcohol intake. As with most people, summer is a time we entertain more frequently and a time we tend to thrive on spontaneity. I have found myself over the past 2 weeks overindulging in foods I normally prefer not to eat, oor dislike eating frequently. We even went out for ice cream and/or frozen yogurt 5 times this week... that is NOT OKAY!!! Time to buckle down and get back to basics.
2: Use my time more wisely and maximize my shorter moments of down time to squeeze in extra fitness practices. I need to get back to my #planktweeps on twitter now that my back is in better shape again. I want to find a couple of other quick and easy things I can do in between tasks at work or when I am sitting around waiting for life to be exciting!
3. Finish all of the laundry and pack for vacation next week! I know this sounds easy but going away from 15 days is a lot more work than it sounds like. I hate doing laundry and packing is nearly the same thing!!!
There you have it... these are my weekly goals. What are yours?

That pizza looks AMAZING, and don't even get me started on fro yo!!! I have had the same food battles you are dealing with. My workouts have been pretty consistent, but I still want to lose weight. I can't lose weight while eating fro yo, candy bars, heaping servings of chips & queso, etc! I keep saying I'm going to get back on track, but then something else comes up and I indulge again! We'll get there!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat pizza does look to die for. I LOVE food. I too got off track and am trying to get back on. Go us!
ReplyDeleteI started to drooling over that food - oh my yum! I eat forzen yogurt a lot....I love it. I do. I always make self try to feel better by only adding fruit as toppings - but I don't think it really matters.
ReplyDeleteI think your goals are great and you will be able to rock them!
Yum to the pizza!!! I hear you with the food talk... Loud and clear! Good luck on your goals and getting ready for vacation! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy goal is to take a shower everyday and at least look at the hidden laundry pile. Found you on the blog hop
ReplyDeleteI can't decide if I'm proud or embarrassed that I apparently brought out your "inner fat kid!" I mostly I think I'm embarrassed ...... but it WAS fun! Next time we'll do whole grain crust and all veggie toppings!
ReplyDeleteYour blog is awesome!
If you read the other comments, I think you will know you should be proud! You may also be in danger of having several more dinner guests the next time around :-). Splurging on foods I love is okay sometimes and you guys made it so much fun! The evening was so worth it and I promise I don't regret a single slice of the 15 I managed to scarf down!
DeleteCool..... makes me feel better. I hope you're enjoying vacation!
