Let's talk about this past week first and then we can explore my inner crazy and goals for next week! Just in case you are new here or you missed last week's goals here they are:
GOAL 1: #PLANKADAY CHALLENGE: This was a fantastic challenge! I have been planking every day since last Monday and I already feel stronger. I have also surrounded myself with some wonderfully supportive plankers and I am cheered on and held accountable every day. I even got The Hubby to plank along with me and now he fancies himself an internet planking wonder :) I wasn't honestly sure what to expect from this challenge but after 1 week I consider the experiment a huge success and will continue to plank every day. I've found i generally prefer mornings to evenings as i perform better when I first wake up.
| One of my better planking times this week! I've gone to 2:35!!! |
With all that good news, I almost forgot to set new goals this week. After conquering failure 2 weeks ago and spending this week tying up loose ends and getting things done that I should have taken care of ages ago, I almost forgot to stop celebrating my accomplishments and set some new goals. For a minute or two I even thought I could toss a fluff goal in there and get away with it. Instead I made a new list! Here goes:
GOAL 1: TRY ONE NEW THING EVERY DAY. I'm a creature of habit and as a result I don't often set out to try new things. This week I will be different. I don't care if it's a new food, a new running route or a new activity. I might even make a new friend. Don't count on that one! I'll keep a running log of the new things I try and report back to you next Monday. Please feel free to throw some suggestions at me.
GOAL 2: TAKE THE GUESS WORK OUT OF MY MORNINGS. For some inexplicable reason I look at the time I get ready in the morning as some kind of endurance sport. It is almost like I put a zillion obstacles between me and getting out the door to work and enjoy the fodder that ensues from the moment I open my eyes until the moment I hit the car door. This week I am going to set myself up before bed for a successful day. I will pack my lunch, lay out my clothes and take care of any dangling participles before ending a night so that I am fresh and ready to go every morning. Hopefully this will give each day a tiny bit more of an even keeled start.
GOAL 3: I AM GOING TO LIVE IN THE MOMENT AND TAKE THE TIME TO ENJOY THEM ALL. I lead a very busy life...I sometimes let it feel so busy that I forget how amazing my life is and I don't always appreciate it.I forget to unplug and enjoy the moment I am in. Instead I am usually thinking two steps ahead to figure out my next move. Always plotting and mapping and trying to anticipate what will be thrown at me next. This usually assigns a ton of unnecessary stress for me to juggle along with all of the other roles I play on any given day. This week I am going to enjoy all of the little moments and not worry about what is coming around the bend at me. Whatever comes, I will be able to handle, hopefully with grace, and I refuse to allow anything to take priority over the important people in my life. This is the most important goal for me. It is after all, summer and I am so fortunate to have the most amazing 8 year old boy to spend it with!
So there you have it! Another week down successfully in the books and three more goals towards a happier me!
QUESTIONS? What goals have you set? What will you do to get closer to a happy you?

I love your goals for this week. My mornings are so unpredictable that if I can predict at least a few items, they may seem less stressful.
ReplyDeleteGreat goals this week! I especially love the one about taking the guess work out of your mornings. I was thinking about how much I need to do that as I was racing from my morning swim to get ready, pack my lunch and get out the door to work. I always get to wherever I'm going with literally a minute to spare. And I could make it so much easier on myself! I'm going to try to tackle this goal with you this week :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you got to try a new spin class. Do you have a FlyWheel in your area? I just tried it for the first time last week and LOVED it. I can't wait to go back. Here was my rundown of the experience: runladylike.com/?p=307
You should try it out if you have one in your area. I've also heard good things about Spinsanity (not sure where their locations are).
Have a great week!
That's awesome that you won a 3 month membership! Great job last week! Awesome goals this week too! I love the try a new thing every day. That will keep life interesting and open you to all sorts of new things! I need to adopt your #2 goal, with 4 kids that would make my life so much easier, if only I could make myself do it! I hope you have a great week and accomplish everything you listed!
ReplyDeleteIf you keep up the planks, you should join us for a Power Plank Challenge, check out my blog post & it's a giveaway!

Your goals this week are awesome. I am totally a creature of habit too and need to work on that.
ReplyDeleteEven if you're dominating my planks I am loving our supportive #plankaday group:)
Way to go on those goals! I especially like the plank support group you've got going on Twitter. I've enjoyed watching you cheer each other on!
ReplyDeleteLove you goal about getting ready in the mornings. I'm right there with you, so I'm especially cheering hard for you this week!
I love all your new goals and positive outlook! I've really enjoyed planking a day with you and your hubby! Makes it so much more fun!
ReplyDeletelove being on your #plankaday group! and i am enjoying reading your goals (you are the third person today i read with them ... getting inspired). Living in the now is certainly a challenge. Have you heard about the Power of Now by Eckert Tolle. A while ago it was quite a good tool for me especially to handle fears about a future i was only imagining. Anyhoo .... my goal this week is to go down my to do list productively and finish at least this one thing that I have been procrastinating on ... royally, and of course stick to my plankaday challenge. "see" you tomorrow ; )
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic goals! I really, really like them!! I think youa re going to do fantastic at getting out the door this week and I can't wait to see what you do new each day!!
ReplyDeleteI love your first goal this week. I can't wait to to see what new things you try!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear about the new classes! Great goals too - I know you'll meet 'em.
ReplyDeleteI am a little late to the party but hopefully you won't mind if I share my goals. This week my goals were to 1) do 2 Couch To 5k workouts (starting at ground zero to really build my running base), 2) lift weights 3 times this week, and 3) reach out to several contacts with regards to freelance gigs. It is Thursday and I can happily say that I have achieved all 3 goals. :-)
ReplyDeleteNice work on the goal setting. Popping in via windows of happiness :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the plank a day goal, that's hilarious! I'm working on my goals for my 30th birthday. It's work in progress but I'll be posting them soon. It's nice to have something to work towards :)
ReplyDeleteSo good! Best of luck this week (btw - epic PlankADay challenge is awesome :-)). I love goal 2 - that's something I struggle with as well.
ReplyDeleteLove your goals for the week! Mornings can be so stressful, so I'm especially digging that one. I need to get in on the plank a day challenge. I'm doing planks most days with my bootcamp workout, but the days I'm not, I still need to do one!
